So I was dumb once and left my car lights on and my car battery subsequently died. I managed to procure some jumper cables and get it going again, no harm no foul. However, I started getting error codes when I turned on my radio. Like an idiot, I started pushing buttons and guessing what my code was and each time I guessed wrong it would go from "Error Code 1" to "Error Code 2" then "Error Code 3" and so on. After five random attempts it went to "Error E" and now refuses to let me try another code.

Here's the kicker, I opened up my owner's manual and FOUND the code I need to override this security feature. However, it refuses to let me put in any more codes. I looked online for solutions and the only answer I could find for this issue was to hold down 1 and 6 then power the radio on. Well this doesn't work. If I hold down 1 and 6 the radio refuses to turn on (or off for that matter). I even tried turning it on, shutting off the engine, holding down those keys, and starting the engine again. That did not work.

Is there anyone out there who DOES know what to do? As I said, I know the code I just need it to let me put it in.

Open the hood and look for the fuse box. Inside, there will be a fuse labeled "Backup." Remove this fuse for approx 20 seconds. Reinstall the fuse and the radio will be reset. Turn the radio on and it will say code. Type in the 5 digit unlock code and you should be ready to go.

There is a big possibility that the unit has an internal failure, and it needs to be replaced. First of all, you need to reset the radio to ask you for its code . Disconnect both battery terminasl for some 30 seconds and reconnect the. If after doing this, the radio asks for a CODE, then you need the code now, but if the radio keeps displaying ERROR E the radio is bad.( the radio will never give you any code to unlock it for that purpose you must go to your nearest Honda dealer as they are authorized to retrieved it online from factory)

Yes you need to take it to your local Honda service center or call a customer relations employee and tell them your situation.
