I just bought an 03 Accord EX Sedan with 84k on it, its a great car but has a few bugs I need to work out. The fist problem ( may all be related to one another ) is I have no cruise control. The main cruise light comes on but it will not set or accel. I checked the switch on the steerin wheel with a test light and with the cruise button on every switch made the horn honk? Secondly my fuel gauge and speedometer are sometimes erratic, but will both work fine if I turn the key off and on about 5 times before I start it. Please give me any info you have for me to try out cause it's bugging me.

Sounds to me like you have an intermittent issue with an electrical connection.

More than likely it is in the fuse box but it could be a loose or worn wire in the steering column as well.

The first clue is the Cruise buttons on the steering wheel seem to be powered right but the cruise does not engage.

The second clue is the on again off again issue with the gauges.

The Honda's are set up so that any electrical issue involving the steering or the braking system will disable the cruise control. For example if your brake light are not working you cannot engage the cruise because the brake lamps being switched on by pressing on the brake disengages the cruise. If the brake lights do not light up the cruise does not know to shut down.

I know this is off subject but I hope this offers some insight as to the various connections that are made by the computer to allow a particular system to operate.

I recommend you seek help from your local Honda Dealership and they can fairly quickly pinpoint the problem with the excellent information you have provided

Only thing I can say is take it to a certified Honda mechanic. I know that doesn't help much.
