U always drive in da highest gear, In ur case it would be D4. all gears would be 4 wheel drive. U cant really control that in a honda, Other cars have a different shifter for that. d4,d3 2 an 1 Is all ur gears. But just leave it in D4

Just drive in D4, the tranny will automatically shift into another gear lower if it needs. The AWD works in any gear including reverse but it is automatic, power goes to the rear wheel when the fronts spin, when there is traction it will drive as a front wheel drive.

The CR-V is a great car/SUV. It has all wheel drive, cargo space and will get you back and forth to every camping/snowboard trip you can go on. Now you're not gonna be towing a boat with it, but you will be able to do more with that than a Honda Civic. Plus keep in mind, when you're done with college, you'll be able to add a little tow hitch on there and pack your stuff and hual on out.

drive it in D4. if its 4WD then it run 4WD all time in all gear. its just like a manual car; 1 is gear 1 and 2 is gear 2 and so on. instead it doesn't have a clutch to press to shift, its does it automatically.
4 wheel is when all wheel spin to get the car going. its just like FWD or RWD(the two(2) front or two(2) rear) spin to moves the car but instead its spinning all 4 wheel to move the car.

The CR-V uses "real-time 4wd" not anything else anyone has told you! only one i saw that even said that you can't control the 4wd was close... so... everytime you drive your crv, its automatically looking for wheels to slip, to engage the 4wd. no matter what gear (except reverse) you can not tell it to engage 4wd or tell it not to. the point of the system is to take the elements of human error out of the situation. So just drive your car in typical drive (W/overdrive) maybe D4 is the equivalent. and the car will look for wheel slippages and automatically, without notice, engage 4wd until it is no longer needed.
