well imports are a lil strange, but the rule still applies, try not to pay much attention to the marks on the crank, well in reality all matters, but there are markings on the engine block as there should also be on the head or valve cover, now if u dissasemble this far, im pretty sure u know what im talking about...let me tell u this, the way i work with vehicles on something this complicated its i get the vehicle's model,yr,type, eng specs. whatever u can to look up when u go to the public library, thats what i use because manuals cost u about 40 to 50bucks to buy. another rule its to put the number 1cyl to its top dead center......if ure like what the ****its this guy talking about well, im pretty sure ure engine its either a 4cyl or 6cyl***** and the 1st cyl starts upfront or left engine site, so u need to remove the #1sparkplug and with ure hands or the right wrench move the cranck pulley and insert a phillips screw driver on the spark hole and pay attention to how deep ure putting the driver in....there will be an instance where youll probably do about 1/4 the distance and u will be touching the piston thats top dead center.........now move from there according to specs. or search for the marks i mention.....

there should be 3 marks close together and 1 mark thats a little seperated. you aline the one that seperated the mark on the cam gear. meaning the 1 mark on the crank is aligned to the mark right above the crank (on the plastic) and align the cam gear so that the 2 marks are level with the head or the arrow is pointing to where it needs to be... i forgot how the y8 cam aligns lol
