I have a 2008 Civic Si and I like it a lot for now. My dream car is a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution but being in my twenties I can not afford the insurance payments lol. Now seeing as how I can not have my dream car yet I would like to make my 2008 Civic Si a little better. Now I do not know much about upgrading cars but I am mechanically inclined and am always willing to try and install parts and and such. If their is something I should not try and do by myself please let me know.
I had planned on installing the NST Pulley Kit to start with and get the Cobb Tuning AccessPort. Unfortunately the Cobb Tuning AccessPort has been discontinued so now that is out. I started to tell an acquaintance that has upgraded his car a lot about it and he told me not to upgrade the car the "ricer way" and do it the
right way". Now I don't really know what this means but he said I should upgrade the "motor cams header springs itbs" So I ask you the yahoo community how should I upgrade my 2008 Civic Si. Please be specific whenever you can and refrain from saying buy a real car, buy a muscle car, and etc. This is what I like at this point in my life. When I am older whose to say I won't decide to work on Muscle Cars?
Price is not really that much of an obstacle I hope. I'm willing to invest up to 12k in this car.
Oh and last favor please let me know if your suggestion is going to make my 2008 Civic Si no longer street legal.

well, 1st of grats on the car, i too have an 08 civic si, my very 1st suggestion will be go to 8thcivic.com and registar, its free, and its a website devoted soley to 8th gen civics(06-11) so you will defintaly fit right in. 8thcivic.com has so much info on our cars its insane, they have parts reviews, DIY articles, loads and loads of good info. plus theres a ton of experienced people on there.

as far as modding the car, question is, do you want to stay N/A, or do you want to Go F/I with either a turbo or supercharger.

1st mod you should buy is hondata flashpro. its better then Cobb accessprt(flashpro took 3 years to develop, COBB accesport took about 3 months to develop...) flashpro should be 1st mod regardless of the build you plan to do, plus with the added midrange power, it makes the car a lot more froendsly when it comes to driving normally.

before you do pulleys, uinderstand that it pulls power from yor accesroies and alternator. there are 2 main brands of pulleys for our car, i forget which ones they are, but do a lil research on them one brand takes power from the alternator, the other does not. i would highly recomnend going with the one that does not affect your alternator.

i cant really tell you a path to start going since im not sure if you want to go F/I or N/A...

look go to 8thcivic.com, registar and send me a message, or frined request on 8thcivic, my username is killswitch21, ill help put you in the right direction depending on what you want to do.

with 12k you can go Supercharged, turbod, or build it all motor style. so knowing your goals with really help put you in the right direction. whats your Hp goal? anyways, just hit me up on 8th civic. we can talk about your goals, and fgure out what path will be best for you

So you have 12k and a 2008 Si and you claim you can't afford the insurance on an Evo??? I think you need to do your sums pal.

Especially as your insurance premiums will rocket anyway when you start modifying the Si. Most insurers won't insure heavily modded cars too so you'll need to find a specialist.

If you don't declare the modifications your policy will become null and void.

As for the modifications, you can spend 5k on N/A parts and dream of 200hp or you can go turbo for 5k and laugh with your 350hp

Problem with that engine, is the same as always with Civics, no torque, with only 139 lb-ft you cant ask much more than 197 HPs, however, a turbo kit will fix that and you can easily be on the 300 mark.

You can use a car performance simulator to virtually do any kind of mod to your Civic and find out how it improves, try at http://www.nxgtrsim.com

First I ought to get the insults out of ways...hiya, a minimum of i'm warning you approximately it, perfect? placing the bar low to stay away from unhappiness by way of having a Mitsubishi as a dream motor vehicle? If a Mitsubishi is a "dream" motor vehicle, i might hate to be sure what a nightmare may be... ok, have been provided that out of my device. shifting on... First question I even have is, in case you be attentive to you are going to in straight forward terms get an Evolution interior the destiny, why might you be keen to spend what a used EVO VIII is nicely worth enhancing a commuter motor vehicle? i don't be attentive to approximately you, yet i does no longer prefer to waste money enhancing a motor vehicle if i be attentive to i visit interchange it with a diverse motor vehicle once I can. 2nd, you ought to in all probability go searching extra for coverage. i'm thinking that is user-friendly to declare you're a minimum of 20, and coverage on an EVO VIII should not be everywhere close to $800/mo, until you would be unable to force the cost cut back. Now, as for enhancing the Civic...initiate with the areas which will make the main distinction. Exhaust might basically upload noise. Intakes seem to make good skill. Header makes the main of those 3. Pulleys, from my journey, are not nicely worth it. You income possibly 2-3whp, and lose alternator voltage, etc. i've got had extra problems with underdrive pulleys than something. From there, your terrific bets may be to be sure if Hondata has a phenolic intake spacer for the Si like they did the RSX-S, on the grounds that they are the two K20Z engines, i might think of they might. Couple that with a Hondata KPro track, and in case you prefer to get quite in-intensity, improve the cams. All that could desire to function as much as an excellent appearing motor vehicle. particular it would nevertheless in straight forward terms be at terrific a extreme 13 2nd motor vehicle in a million/4 mile, yet that is extra constructive than the top-mid 14s that is now. previous that, i might save on with attempting to make it cope with extra constructive.

start small get an intake, exhaust, and headers if you want tuning software (highly recomend it) get a hondata flash pro they are simple and affective. later move up to turbo after that you won't even care about having an evo any more i have seen people make 500 hp out of a stock motor on an 08 civic si with a turbo kit.
