Civic experts- How much horsepower?

I'm looking at a 95 Civic, I think it has the B16?

Anyhow, it has a hybrid T3/T4 turbo, header, JE pistons, Eagle rods, ported/polished heads, and a Hondata ECU.

About how much horsepower will it make at the wheels?

Well if it has a turbo then it cannot have a header. The exhaust manifold holds the turbo. But IF it has the B16 with the upgraded internals, it all depends on how many pounds of boost it is running. If its at 7-9 PSI expect about 225-240. At 10-12 PSI expect about 250-275, and at 14-16 expect around 300. However if it has the SOHC then expect much lower numbers. For the guy below me, I have a 99 Civic EX with a B16 swap that has been fully built from the crank up and sleeved and runs 25 pounds of boost at the track making over 550 HP at the wheels. It is driven on the street at 15 PSI making 376 HP at the wheels. It has the Eagle stroker crank, Eagle H beam rods, JE 9.0-1 pistons, Cometic head gasket, Greddy timing belt, Skunk2 stage 2 turbo cams, valves, valve springs, retainers, bronze valve guides, Intake and 70mm throttle body. It has the Greddy E-manage ultimate, along with the Profec E-01 boost controller. It has a AEM fuel rail, AEM fuel pressure regulator, AEM fuel filter, RC 550 injectors, and 2 RC 750 additional injectors for the high boost. I have a ACT 6 puck sprung hub clutch, ACT streetlite flywheel, Cusco LSD, and driveshaft shop stage 4 axles. OH almost forgot to mention this is a FULL interior, daily driven car, with street tires.

wow, I dont know much about cars other then the few shops I work at like Top Setup, One 6 motorsports, Whip Factory.



Ok first off chief, before you mod what is your HP goal? Is this a daily driver?



Ok break up some dumb answers here. Most SOHC motors can can 6-10psi, B-serious not including the B20 can handel 6-14psi on tune.



Taking an example from D-sport magizne built B16 they made a 630whp 25psi and ran a 10.00 flat in the 1/4 bore to 1.7L



Building a motor isnt easy there isnt a step by step how to get some HP on each car. What I recommend is look what you 1/4 and HP goals are. If you want a low 13's car then a B16 with cams and GT35R will do the trick. There are some many whys to make power.



Forged bottom ends are good start, a turbo ready head and pair of cams are also needed, I will stay away from hondata and get a stand alone fuel managemnt system like AEM. Dont foget your tranny either

If it is SOHC it is not a b16. If this car is tuned properly by a pro it could be pretty powerful. If not, it could be a hazard to drive and will not be reliable. I say you really find out what the deal is with this car. Test drive it. Find out what motor it really has and how much psi it is running. Everything else is just speculation.

seeing how none of these guys have a clue....b16 stock is 160hp on motor and 130 at wheels. now turbo headers pistons rods and hondata...all this untuned is easily 375hp on motor and 340 to wheels. with a street tune your looking at 410hp motor and 390 at wheels. with professional tunning and hours of dyno testing 428 to 430hp on motor and 410 wheel. very hard to make a civic break into the 400 hp bracket so if you have congrats. those 500hp or 600hp civic you read about are all professionally built reworked tuned and basically messed with every day till they got it there. alot of times changing checking and playing with parts. your average guy can't get there because they got sponers and own everything. we usually have to street tune or hope what we put gives us what they say it will.
