Like the others said - if you want a stick, buy one with a stick. There is no way you can justify the expense of changing the tranny in that car - and you really shouldn't have too much trouble finding one with a stick to begin with.

You would be better off looking for one that already has a manual transmission. The transmission might not be that big of a deal to change out, but you would also have to install a clutch system from scratch, including the master and slave cylinder, and the hydraulic lines. I'm not sure how much it will cost, but unless you can do it yourself, the job will be pretty expensive. I know it's a Honda, but it is 14 years old. I don't think it would be worth it no matter how nice the car is.

a 5sp swap into a civic is not very expensive BUT not really worth it because you have a civic with a stock engine.. the only time i would even think aboout doing something like thats is when you do a whole engine swap. the money you spend doing a 5 spd swap you could have added just a bit more money and go a civic with a b16 swaped into it already thats 5 spd... just not worth the time or money. cost amount wise if you did all the labor and just got used parts you could do it for about 900 bucks maybe.. stock honda civic parts are pretty cheap if you know where to look.

If you are looking for a true dollar amount It will be in the price range of $8,000-$10,000 for the conversion. This is a pretty complex procedure and requires alot of parts. like the other guy said, you will also need shift linkages, and different tranny mounts, clutch master cylinder, pedal assemblies, ECU, wiring harness, and various other misc. parts. You can find these cars all day long already a 5-speed for $1,500-$3,000 in VERY good shape.

Making a mechanical change like that involves not only the trans, clutch master and slave cylinder, but a new computer and wiring harness. So as the others say, it will be cheaper to buy another car. (And it will save a lot of headaches)

only thing i can tell you is that it would probably cost more than the car is worth.
